Stay busy and get involved as much as you can with groups, clubs, athletics and use this time to explore whatever you are interested in! Go the extra mile to get to know your professors and TAs – they can mentor and help you figure out what direction you want to go in. Before signing up for classes, do you research, go talk to people who are already taking or have taken the program/course, talk to the professors and sit in on the class beforehand.

“Take an ethics class at U of T and get work experience while at school but make sure to not let it interfere with your studies. Don’t focus on just building your resume, focus on clarifying your values as a person and reflect deeply on how you can express those values in your working life.”

“Start exploring your options early – there are so many jobs out there that you haven’t realized existed or are options to you. Build genuine connections and ask questions – there is something to learn from everyone, especially if they have different career goals than you.
