Career Description

“If there’s something that you really want to do but are scared of how long it will take, or how much money it’s going to cost, or how far it will set you back, just forget all of that and go for it. None of those concerns that seem really important when you’re working on your undergraduate will matter in five years. Find your passion, and go for it with everything you have.”

“Study a language, it only becomes more difficult once you begin a career. Run long distances, it’s perfect way to digest audiobooks, clear the mind, explore and stay healthy. Be prepared for stepping-stone jobs, the way you pick courses bears little resemblance to life.”

“It’s true that as a young undergraduate student, there’s ample room for experimentation. However, it’s more advisable to experiment purposefully. You could think that if I’m proficient in mathematics, then I could spend a summer doing research, and if academia doesn’t suit me, perhaps I could combine the math skill with a few courses in computer science to be a specialist in artificial intelligence (deep learning). Do you see how the experimentation is based on an assessment of your strength, and arranged with a fail-safe plan? I haven’t had much planning until I started working, but I know had I planned properly, I could have gone further in my career. Planning and experimenting are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they are complementary to each other.”
