“Professional and academic references are essential for job and post-graduate academic applications. During undergrad make sure you find a way to demonstrate your abilities to professors and employers/supervisors so that they know you (and remember you!), feel comfortable recommending you and are able to substantively comment on your characteristics to a future prospective employer.”

“Take advantage of all of the opportunities available to you on campus as a student! Be focused and efficient with your studying – treat it like a job, get it done, then take advantage of all of the free time you have to do something constructive. U of T has a club or organization for everything – sports, fitness, photography, music, debate, drama, etc. And it is all relatively inexpensive for you as a student. Take advantage of the time you have and the opportunities available to you.”

“Study a language, it only becomes more difficult once you begin a career. Run long distances, it’s perfect way to digest audiobooks, clear the mind, explore and stay healthy. Be prepared for stepping-stone jobs, the way you pick courses bears little resemblance to life.”
